OpenKernel EDU: learn computer science with emoji

OpenKernel EDU teaches operating-system and assembly-language concepts in the browser using emoji instructions instead of English keywords. Write a program, step through it one instruction at a time, and watch memory and the counter change as it runs. Nothing to install, no account, and no programming experience assumed.

• Write programs from emoji instructions: load a value, add, print, branch on zero, and stop.
• Step through execution and watch the memory grid and program counter update.

Why emoji instead of keywords

Every mainstream programming language is written in English. That is a barrier before the first concept is even reached. Emoji instructions carry the same semantics without the vocabulary, so the thing being learned is the machine model rather than a second language. The interface is available in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic and Hindi.
